Proudly South African

Cape Mountain Zebra hold a very special place in my heart. Not only are they endemic to South Africa, they are also a wonderful conservation success story thanks to conservation efforts by National Parks, Provincial reserves and private landowners. From only around 90 individuals remaining in the 1950s, numbers had risen to nearly 3000 by 2014, when they were the subject of my post-doctoral research work.

This painting is a celebration of being South African and our ability to overcome adversities.
